The Information Governance Committee is a standing sub-committee of the Central PHO Board and oversees the information and communications technology (ICT), Information Systems (IS) and  Health Intelligence (HI) investment priorities for Central PHO and other participating primary health sector providers and organisations

The Committee:

  • Provides strategic leadership for primary health care in the MidCentral district through the alignment of Central PHO's Digital Strategy Plan objectives with the key focus areas of Central PHO's Strategic Plan, the MidCentral District Digital Strategy, the MidCentral DHB's Strategic framework and Ministry of Health's NZ Health Strategy.
  • Prioritises digital investment initiatives and deliver final approvals and recommendations on proceeding with proposed digital projects as part of the annual budgeting process.
  • Ensure planning is collaborative and considers how to bridge equity gaps, actively involve clinicians, encompass primary healthcare stakeholder needs and considers the need of the wider social sector

 

The Information Governance Committee

 

Stephen lives in Dannevirke and is a community representative on the Central PHO Board. Stephen’s first involvement in health was as the CEO of Rangitane o Tamaki nui a Rua an iwi health provider in the Tararua District.

He was a member of Manawhenua Hauora ,an iwi consortium, for a number of years. He served one term on the MidCentral District Health Board and has been a member of both CPHAC and HAC.

He was a founding member of the Tararua PHO and has been on the Central PHO since its inception.

 

Steve has worked within the ICT industry for over 25 years in both New Zealand and Australia with a large portion of that time being focussed on the Health and Disability Sector. 

Before taking up the role with MidCentral DHB, Steve worked for Central TAS as the Regional Executive Lead - Central Region Health Information and was instrumental in finalising the regional health informatics programme, which has recently been rolled out at MDHB. 

Steve has held senior management positons in a range of information technology companies, including Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), iSoft NZ Limited, and Gen-i and Telecom NZ.  This was complemented by a secondment to the Ministry of Health as a Senior Policy Advisor.

 

Tracey is a Registered Nurse currently employed by Kauri HealthCare, a large integrated family health Centre. She is also the Team Leader for long term conditions and sits on the governance board for Kauri Heath Care.

She is also a member of the Diabetes leadership group. During her career she has worked in both secondary and primary health care settings. She is passionate about providing evidenced based, high quality care to patients.

 

Dr Hayter has been a General Practitioner since 1990.  He trained in Australia and spent 16 years working in a small Rural Community in South Australia.  Dr Hayter is married, and his family has lived in Palmerston North for the last nine years.  One of their main interests has been hosting International students in their home for periods of a few days up to three years.  Over 80 students have stayed with them to date.

Dr Hayter has worked at The Palms since he arrived in New Zealand, he has been Clinical Director for about seven years and recently became a shareholder and a Director on the Board of the practice.  He is also a member of the GreenCross Clinical Advisory Group – which provides clinical support and direction to over 19 practices who are part of the GreenCross group.  Dr Hayter has also been a Trustee on the Central PHO Board for about seven years.

 

Dr Simon Allan MB ChB MD FRACP FRCP(Edin.) FAChPM ONZM

Director of Palliative Care, Arohanui Hospice, Palmerston North

Dr Allan is working to see patients and their families at the centre of Health Care and to have Health Professionals and Health systems primarily responsive to those needs. With more than 30 years working in the care of patients with cancer and Palliative Care needs both as a Medical Oncologist and a Palliative Care Physician and with around 50 publications that support patient and family care initiatives, he is determined to try and encourage patient centred care throughout the District Health Board.

 

Dr. Nader Fattah MBChB MRCGP

I am a 41-year-old, British medical graduate and a practising GP for over 13 years, attaining membership of the RCGP (UK) in 2005. Hailing from Scottish-Egyptian descent, I lived in both Qatar and Egypt before moving to the UK age 11. My experiences of different countries and diverse cultures have instilled me with a unique outlook on life. With a passion for travelling from a young age, it was not long before I sought out the beautiful shores of Aotearoa in 2003, before making it my home in 2010 with my wife. In addition to the practice of medicine, a lifelong interest in technology drives my pursuit of ICT to enhance people’s health and empower their lives.
