The Central PHO Clinical Board is a standing Sub-Committee of the Central PHO Board which oversees the safety and quality of clinical care undertaken directly by Central PHO and contracted providers.

The Clinical Board provides governance oversight of the following areas of clinical activity:

  • Clinical Effectiveness
  • Consumer Participation 
  • Quality Improvement
  • Patient Safety
  • Engaged, Effective Workforce
  • Access
  • Board Governance

In addition the Clinical Board will pursue New Zealand’s Triple Aim (HQSC):

  • Improved patient, quality, safety and experience of health care
  • Improved health and equity for all populations
  • Best value for public health system resources

Dr. Nader Fattah MBChB MRCGP

I am a 41-year-old, British medical graduate and a practising GP for over 13 years, attaining membership of the RCGP (UK) in 2005. Hailing from Scottish-Egyptian descent, I lived in both Qatar and Egypt before moving to the UK age 11. My experiences of different countries and diverse cultures have instilled me with a unique outlook on life. With a passion for travelling from a young age, it was not long before I sought out the beautiful shores of Aotearoa in 2003, before making it my home in 2010 with my wife. In addition to the practice of medicine, a lifelong interest in technology drives my pursuit of ICT to enhance people’s health and empower their lives.

Robyn is a Programme Co-ordinator for Te Rau Puawai Maori Mental Health Workforce Development within the College of Health, Massey University since 2010.  The programme was developed by Emeritus Professor Sir Mason Durie in 1999 between Health Workforce New Zealand (formerly Ministry of Health) and Massey University.
 
Robyn became involved in the health sector in 1996 when she joined Enable New Zealand, then Te Runanga o Raukawa as a Mental Health Support Worker followed onto Public Health and Central PHO as a Health Promotion Advisor.

Executive Director, Allied Health
 
Gabrielle completed a Diploma in Physiotherapy at Otago Polytechnic in 1984 and commenced work at Palmerston North Hospital in January 1985. She gained a Health Service Management post graduate qualification from Massey University in 2004.  
 
Gabrielle has held numerous leadership roles while working at Palmerston North Hospital. Prior to her appointment to the Executive Director, Allied Health she was the Professional Advisor, Physiotherapy and Coordinator Child Development Service. 
 
Gabrielle is committed to supporting Allied Health at MidCentral Health. She believes in the contribution her Allied Health, Scientific and Technical staff make to the lives of those in the MidCentral District community. 
She is the MDHB representative on the Clinical Board.
 

 

Kiwa has experience managing operations in central and local government, and also with Te Wānanga o Raukawa, the Māori Tertiary institution in Ōtaki. Currently the Chief Executive Officer at the Ōtaki Medical Centre, Kiwa also chairs the Board of Te Puna Oranga o Ōtaki, the Integrated Family Health Centre.

No Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāti Rangitihi hoki, Kiwa sees his current roles as a means to contribute to the enhancement of wellbeing for whānau and the Ōtaki community in general.
 

 

I am Sylvia van Echten and work in General practice as a Nurse Practitioner across the lifespan. I have worked in primary care for nearly 18 years, and became a qualified NP in December 2017.  I am a member of the Central PHO Clinical Board.  On a personal level, I have been married for nearly 34 years, and have 7 adult children. 

 

I have worked in public health for 20 years until 1994 involved in setting up and developing alcohol and drug services in this area and nationally. I was the long-term chair of the Drugs Advisory Committee advising the NZ Government on illicit drug issues. At the international level I was involved in the Harm Reduction movement providing consultancy on opiod replacement therapy and drug treatment in prisons.  I set up and managed companies involved in the health and social service areas. One of these companies responsible for the national contracting and development of problem gambling services; another company was involved in the development and targeting of public health messages to young people.

I am currently the Independent Chair of the MidCentral DHB Consumer Council which also includes the CPHO.

 

Gaye has a keen interest in health matters from a community perspective. In particular she has concerns about how members of the public gain health literacy, navigate through the health system and  who provides advocacy for those who cannot advocate for themselves.

As a community representative Gaye serves on:

•    MidCentral DHB Consumer Council
•    PHO Clinical Board
•    Arohanui Hospice Clinical Governance Group
•    and various DHB short term projects when requested

Gaye has been a volunteer at Arohanui Hospice since 2004
 

 

Clare is a Community Pharmacist working as a Locum Pharmacist throughout the MidCentral District. She is also working on projects through the MidCentral Community Pharmacy Group maintaining and exploring innovative pharmacist services and new roles for pharmacists in a future integrated model. She is a member of the Central PHO Clinical Board and various DHB District Groups. She is the Chair of Alzheimers Manawatu  and an active Rotarian. She has had a varied career as a pharmacist and has held various governance roles throughout New Zealand. "
